CAPE TOWN – A man believed to be a traffic officer has been rushed to hospital after he was shot and wounded in Lavender Hill.
Another man was killed in the shooting on Prince George Drive on Wednesday morning.
Traffic on Prince George Drive is moving slowly as a large area where the shooting occurred has been cordoned off.
A body laying between two cars has been covered with a white sheet with a massive blood stain on it.
Curious onlookers stand whispering in groups about what had happened, but they refuse to speak to the media.
A member of the Junky Funky Kids Gang has however told Eyewitness News that one of the men that were shot is an affiliate of the group.
Meanwhile, some residents who prefer to remain anonymous said they were glad it was school holidays as the shooting took place across the road from Prince George Primary School.
At the same time, the Cape Town Traffic Service has expressed shock after the incident.
City traffic spokesperson Merle Lourens says, “We do not know what transpired but the incident has affected everybody else. What happens to one happens to all of us. We’re very sad.”
